Access Policies

Access Policies

The Drexel University Archives makes every effort to promote open and equitable access to its services and the records in its care without discrimination or preferential treatment.  Access to records is performed in accordance with legal requirements and institutional policies.  Due to the sensitive nature of some material, the university archivist reserves the right to keep portions of the archives collection closed to researchers. Student and personnel records are closed to researchers for 80 years after their creation.  The reason for the 80 year closure is to protect the privacy of living individuals. Records other than personnel and student records are open to researchers with the exception of records that have been closed through a special arrangement between the records creator/owner and the University Archivist.  Records without an agreed-upon period of closure will be made available at the discretion of the archivist, in accordance with the Society of American Archivists' Code of Ethics.

Please contact the archivist at 215-895-6706 or archives@drexel.edu with any questions related to access policies and procedures.
